There was an immediate and furious response from readers to our story about the refuse collection ‘disgrace’ over the festive period, which saw rubbish piling up all over the Oban area.

Kate McNab: ‘When are the council going to admit they have made a huge error in reducing bin uplift as now they are running weeks behind schedule with no one knowing if or when bins will be emptied…. and are they going to fix the rat problem they are creating all over the district….. Will be looking great for the tourist season overflowing bins and over run by rats.’
