SCOTLAND’S largest community broadband network, Locheilnet, is expanding.
Next week, households in Tulloch will join 400 users across Lochaber in being able to access download speeds of more than 20Mbps thanks to this community service.
Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) supported the group’s expansion with a second round of funding to help it upgrade and extend its core infrastructure. The £42,000 award has already enabled Locheilnet to upgrade its core network and customers in Kilmalieu were connected in autumn 2017. Following the connection of Tulloch, the community company will focus on delivering to the south of Fort William via a mast at Treislaig.
