The National Youth Choir of Scotland was back on Mull at the weekend for a third visit to the island in recent years to deliver children’s workshops and training days. This time it was a conducting skills course run by leading choral director Michael Bawtree.
Twelve people signed up for the course from Mull and Oban and participants included youth choir leaders, members of the Mull Gaelic Choir, and other enthusiastic singers.
The course was taught brilliantly and covered general technique as well as addressing more specific issues people had been facing. There were lots of opportunity to get up and practice and there was also a demo choir session at the end with a group of willing young volunteers (or perhaps future conductors!).
