School could be first of its kind

PLANS for ‘the first community-owned school in Scotland’ are progressing.

Strontian residents decided to build their own school after they were told by the Highland Council there were not enough cash to replace the primary on the Ardnamurchan peninsula.

The Strontian Community School Building Ltd was then formed to raise the funds to build the school at a new location adjacent to Ardnamurchan high school.
