CHEF Maria Magda Illioiu of Tyndrum’s Real Food Café has been shortlisted in the UK’s top 10 young fish friers for the 2017 National Fish and Chip Awards, billed as the ‘Oscars of the fish frying industry’.
Competitors faced a ‘rigorous judging process’ of exams and interviews, said the seafood authority Seafish which organises the award, and they will be subjected to further assessments at the National Federation of Fish Friers training school, until the 10 finalists are whittled down to five vying to be the 2017 champion.
The overall national winner will be announced on January 26, 2017, at the National Fish and Chip Awards annual ceremony in London.
