Medieval cathedral discovered buried on the island of Lismore

AN INCREDIBLE medieval cathedral has been found buried under the grounds of the existing church on the island of Lismore.

The structure will be on the same scale as other contemporary cathedrals such as Melrose, Dunfermline and St Andrews, and was discovered by archaeologists and volunteers during a community dig on the island.

Volunteers joined archaeologists for the dig that discovered the ancient cathedral.
