Fascinating history of famous clan banners


Reference was made in last week’s Oban Times (‘Sun stars at great Glenfinnan Gathering) to the clan banners carried onto the field by the stewards at the opening ceremony.

These have an interesting history and were used in 1946 in a British historical film called Bonnie Prince Charlie, which was directed by Anthony Kimmins for London Films depicting the 1745 Jacobite Rising and the role of Bonnie Prince Charlie within it.
