Wind band celebrates 21st birthday

LOCHABER Community Wind Band celebrates its 21st birthday next month.

The amateur musicians, based in Fort William, will be holding an educational weekend on May 13 and 14 to mark the milestone.

The weekend will consist of full band, wind ensemble and sectional work culminating in a concert on the Sunday in Duncansburgh Macintosh Parish Church, where it is expected a band of around 50 musicians from all over Scotland and will be playing. The band was founded in 1996 by John G Whyte, who has been the band’s conductor and prime motivator ever since.
