Family branded ‘dysfunctional’ as court rules case unproven

A MOTHER and son embroiled in an assault case were branded ‘dysfunctional’ in Fort William sheriff court last week.

Alastair Torquil MacKenzie-Buist stood trial accused of assaulting his 78-year-old mother Jennifer MacKenzie.

The incident took place in a car on July 24, 2015, where it was alleged Mr MacKenzie-Buist struck the lady while he was driving.

Over the course of a two-day trial, which started on October 13, two differing accounts of the incident were given.
