Baxter: ‘categoric assurance’ given over school janitor hours

THE SENIOR councillor for Lochaber says he has been given a ‘categoric assurance’ schools’ janitorial hours will not be allocated to Highland Council’s new offices in Fort William.

Councillor Andrew Baxter, chairman of Highland Council’s Lochaber Area Committee, told the Lochaber Times this week the assurance had come after he raised concerns following the council decision to transfer all catering, cleaning, facilities management (CCFM)/janitorial staff to a new in-house service. Mr Baxter says the worries were flagged up to him recently by a head teacher and the chairman of a local parent council.
