THE SCOTTISH Government was left red-faced following an answer to a question about Cowal in Argyll and Bute, in which they praised a ferry service almost four hours away in Lochaber.
Highlands and Islands MSP Donald Cameron lodged a question which mentioned the Cowal Fixed Link Working Group, and asked to ascertain the SNP Government’s position on whether or not it would support a proposal to ‘connect South Argyll and Bute to the Scottish Central Belt by either rail or road utilising one or more fixed links (tunnels, bridges).’
Responding, the minister for transport and the islands, Humza Yousaf MSP, dodged the question and instead praised the Corran ferry service, which is almost a four-hour drive away from Cowal’s most southern point.
