Tarmac sellers ‘mislead’ residents

TRADING Standards are warning Oban and Lorn residents to be aware of cold-calling tarmac sellers.

Argyll and Bute Trading Standards is receiving reports of ‘poor quality work and illegal practices by workmen cold-calling local residents and offering to lay and repair driveways and similar,’ it stated on its Facebook page on Monday.

These typically poor practices, it explained, include ‘misleading residents by saying things like they are working for the council or someone locally, or have spare tarmac left over’.
