MP demands action on air traffi c control plan

WESTERN Isles SNP MP Angus Brendan MacNeil has demanded Scottish Government intervention over Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd’s (HIAL) proposal to centralise air traffic control.

Mr MacNeil made his call after meeting air traffic controllers in Stornoway and Benbecula this week.

The MP’s reaction came as HIAL announced a substantial growth in the number of passengers using its airports.

And Highlands and Island MSP Rhoda Grant added her voice to the protest, saying she was ‘deeply concerned’.
