Motorist is banned for dangerous overtaking

A MAN has been banned from driving for a year and fined £400 for a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre.

William John Smalley, 68, of 30 Lynn Court, Soroba Road, Oban, admitted the charge of dangerous driving on the A85 near Arrivain on December 16, 2015, when he overtook a number of vehicles in the face of oncoming traffic.

Procurator fiscal Eoin McGinty told Oban Sheriff Court last Tuesday, August 16, that a witness travelling west along the A85 at 3.10pm saw an oncoming lorry with four or five cars behind it, when one of those cars pulled out to overtake.
