JULY marked a poignant centenary for the Pagan family of Oban: Graeme Pagan of Neaveton, his son Gillies Pagan and grandson George Pagan – known, respectively, by their initials GHP IV, V and VI.

George Hair Pagan died leading a charge during the Battle of the Somme.
