TWO MEN had a lucky escape when their light aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing near a remote loch close to Kinlochleven.
The Piper Cub came down on Friday afternoon and ended up stuck in a bog, several hundred metres south of Loch Chiarain, close to the Blackwater Reservoir. The incident is being investigated by experts from the Air Accidents Investigation Branch.
Police Scotland told the Lochaber Times that while it is aware of the aircraft’s emergency landing, officers are not involved in the inquiry into what happened. The pilot and passenger were uninjured in the forced landing and were later picked up by an Inverness Coastguard helicopter and flown to Oban Airport.
