THE GLENDALE Trust has secured up to £20,500 from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) to help improve Meanish Pier on the Isle of Skye, with help from a Highland fish farm company.
Since the Glendale Trust took ownership of the slipway, pier and surrounding land at Meanish, there have been plans to develop visitor moorings, safe walk ashore access from the water, better parking and improvements to the slipway.
Meanish Pier working group has agreed to work with Kames Fish Farm Limited, Oban, which has offered to deliver the much-needed infrastructure. The £20,500 award from HIE will fund the professional services required to formalise agreements between Kames and the community group to develop the site.
