A FAMILY who have spent the last two years building up a business in Laggan are being forced to close up shop after losing their right to stay in the UK.
The Zielsdorf family arrived in Scotland in 2008 and were accepted for an entrepreneurial visa. They set up home with their five children in Laggan, opening the area’s only store.
Originally from Canada, the family have invested more than £200,000 of their own cash to build up the business which operates as a coffee shop, general store and holiday let. However, they have had to put it up for sale as their request for a visa extension was refused leaving them classed as ‘over-stayers’.
