A LONG-RANGE rescue has been carried out to fly a crewman to hospital after he suffered an injury on board a fishing vessel more than 230 nautical miles from Stornoway.
A call came into the UK Coastguard just after 10 am on Saturday August 26 reporting that the crew member had suffered a serious injury to his hand and needed hospital treatment.
The Coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Stornoway was sent with the Coastguard fixed-wing aircraft providing cover and support.
