MP in lamb plea to supermarkets

THE COUNTRY’S leading agricultural organisation has thrown its weight behind efforts by Ross, Skye and Lochaber MP Ian Blackford to get major supermarkets to support local lamb.

The National Farmers’ Union of Scotland’s regional manager for the Highlands, Ian Wilson, said the body was supportive of Mr Blackford’s plea this week to the chief executives of both Asda and Tesco, asking them to give preference to Scottish- or British-produced fresh lamb rather than imports.
