Sir, I am writing in response to the incredibly confused letter from your correspondent Mike Foster (The Oban Times, July 27), which mixes up BBC salaries, NHS Highland, and our Oban GP service.
Like your correspondent, I would be happy to see BBC staff well paid, but I doubt that any BBC employee can justify a salary that is three or four times that of our Prime Minister.
My wife and I have received excellent service from our local hospitals but, sadly, the services that they can provide now are limited by the inability of NHS Highland to attract the necessary staff. No doubt this is due partly to the lack of proper forward planning by the NHS administrators and failings on the part of our Scottish Government, which has been responsible for the NHS in Scotland for the past decade.
