Age is no barrier to creativity at Rockfield

THE Rockfield Centre is gearing up to host a weekend of creative events as part of Luminate, Scotland’s festival of creative ageing.

Events will be taking place around Scotland throughout October for this year’s Luminate festival, and the Rockfield Centre volunteers are putting Oban on the map. Volunteer Sheila Quillan approached the centre with some ideas and, after a quick blether over a cup of tea, plans were under way.

Sheila is a regular performer at Let’s Make a Scene, the centre’s monthly open mic night for new music and spoken word, and this month she’s staging a takeover for older artists on Friday October 27. She’s also temporarily renaming the night Let’s Make a Scone – a wink at the stereotypes about older people the night hopes to turn on their head. Performers and audience members of all ages are welcome.
