United Auctions held a sale of 4,976 sheep and lambs of all classes at Islay Auction Mart. Trade obtained on the day,though back slightly on the year, compared favorably to levels currently being obtained at mainland centres.

The following are the lamb averages: Suffolk Crosses £50.55. Texel Crosses £51.66. Cheviot Cross £55.56. Mule Cross £49.24 and Blackface £35.62. A good show of quality bred lambs was presented to a good following of mainland buyers. A show of rams and ram lambs was also held when the judging of the various classes was ably placed by Mr Eion Brown, Cruach, who made the following awards.
