THIS is the final year of the Glenfiddich Fiddle Championship. Since 2014, the funding has come under the auspices of the newly established William Grant Foundation, which the family shareholders created in order to provide support to communities and good causes in Scotland.
The foundation has now confirmed it will provide more general support for Scottish culture and heritage through its grant-making. Subsequently, 2016 will be the last year William Grant & Sons coordinates Glenfiddich Fiddle Championship.
Liz Maxwell of William Grant & Sons, said: ‘The main aim of the Glenfiddich Fiddle Championship was to encourage, stimulate and perpetuate the art of fiddle playing throughout the country and we are proud to have accomplished this.’
