Fort William drummer wins national award

A DRUMMER from Fort William has recieved national recognition for her dedication to cadet piping and drumming.

Cadet Colour Sergeant Jodie Standen, 16, from 1st Battalion The Highlanders’ Fort William detachment, was awarded the BAE Systems Recognising Excellence Award in piping and drumming on Saturday November 25 at the annual Army Cadet Force Association dinner in the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden, London.

A representative from 1st Battalion The Highlanders Army Cadet Force said: ‘Cadet Colour Sergeant Standen is everything a cadet should aspire to be. She is dedicated to not only furthering herself as a cadet, but also helps ensure junior cadets within her battalion and detachment strive to reach their goals.
