Celebrations have spanned more than 11,000 miles to welcome new baby Robyn Vivien Johnson to the world. Weighing in at 8lbs 1oz, the tiny tot was born in Christchurch in the early hours of February 4 New Zealand-time to former Oban couple Jaki Aitken and Alex Johnson who lost their first daughter Rebecca to a rare genetic disease in December 2017.
Events in Oban organised by family and friends have raised more than £6,000 to support a charity dedicated to finding a cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) that claimed Rebecca’s life when she was just five months old.
Robyn’s delighted grandma Edwina Aitken told The Oban Times: ‘She’s absolutely gorgeous.’
