Liberty’s flagship alloy wheels factory planned for Fort William is still on course despite the UK car industry being rocked by Japanese car giant Nissan scrapping its plans to build its new X-Trail vehicle in Sunderland. The assurances that plans were progressing for the Lochaber plant came from Dr Douglas Dawson, chief executive of Liberty Industries Group – part of Sanjeev Gupta’s GFG Alliance – which heads Liberty’s extensive network of factories making key components for the UK and international automotive industry.
