A MAN who was warned a custodial sentence was a real option after he assaulted a minor has avoided a prison sentence.
Last month, George Pendreigh, from Morar, was found guilty of assaulting a 17-year-old girl on May 13, 2016, in Mallaig. At that time, Sheriff William Taylor ordered a social background report on the 57-year-old and told him to appear back in Fort William court on Tuesday (December 6) to hear his fate.
Solicitor Hamish Melrose began to tell the court a report had been completed but Sheriff Taylor finished the sentence by saying it [the report] had outlined Pendreigh as a victim and added ‘it does him no good’.
