FEARS have been raised about summer 2017 ferry operations between Mallaig and Armadale after it was revealed CalMac has been trialling MV Loch Fyne for the route.
Ross, Skye and Lochaber MP Ian Blackford expressed concerns after he was alerted by Sleat Transport Forum that sea trials were under way last weekend with the MV Loch Fyne, which Mr Blackford claims is ‘a wholly unsuitable vessel’ for the route. He said it was later confirmed to him by CalMac management that she had been ‘testing the waters in preparation for taking over the service in 2017’.
A CalMac spokesman said: ‘No decision on the final summer timetable for Mallaig-Armadale has been made.
