A MUM’S appeal to get life-saving medical supplies out to Yazidi refugees in Iraq has reached its target.
Fiona Bennett from North Connel has raised £10,000 to get urgently-needed cargo to two hospitals and a mobile clinic in Sinjar. She plans to fly out in April with journalist friend Faith Orr and spend two weeks volunteering alongside medics treating hard-to-reach people, many of whom are still living in the mountains after fleeing there in 2014 when Isis took their city.
This week Yazidi activist Farhad Sh, who lives in France, got in touch with Ms Bennett to donate the final funds she needed. Mr Sh is a volunteer for Polish organisation Orla-Straz which translates to Eagle Watch, helping children who have suffered at the hands of terrorists.
