IAN BLACKFORD MP is inviting local people to join him outside the Royal Bank of Scotland branch in Mallaig this Saturday (March 10) as part of the countrywide ‘day of action’ to halt bank closures.
MPs, MSPs and local campaigners will also be gathering in towns across the country to collect signatures on a petition asking RBS chiefs to halt their ‘damaging and misguided’ plans to shut down 62 Scottish branches this summer.
As leader of the SNP Westminster group, Ian Blackford has raised the issue of bank closures in small communities during Prime Minister’s Questions on numerous occasions, but Mrs May has always refused to step in, even though the UK Government hold a 73 per cent stake in the bank.
