MANY years ago a brass dog collar was dug up in an old drain at Stronmagachan in Glen Aray, a short distance above Inveraray. It was inscribed: Ensign Dougall Campbell, W F Regiment.

Captain Donald Campbell, killed near Detroit on July 4, 1763, by an American Indian who cut out and ate his heart.
