Tiree’s new whisky flies off the shelf

A WHISKY bottling company has been launched on Tiree, re-establishing the island’s long association with the Scotch Whisky industry.

The initial 230 bottles offered for sale by the Tiree Whisky Company were snapped up within two days.

Often referred to as Tir an Eòrna (Land of Barley) in Gaelic, Tiree was once home to 50 distillers, yet the island’s connection with the industry had long since been lost.
