Growth industry turns out a shore thing

A MARINE biologist with a love of both the sea and food has set up a new business offering seaweed foraging and harvesting services.

Duncan Smallman launched Slate Island Seaweed earlier this year with support from Business Gateway.

After gaining his PhD in Zoology at Aberdeen University, Duncan moved to Easdale and spent time working as a wildlife tour guide, as crew for the marine industry and as a seaweed culturist at Otter Ferry Seafish Ltd.
