Oban is on course to become university town

How would you best describe Oban? It has had many taglines: A tourist town; the seafood capital of Scotland; the Gateway to the Isles.

But what about: Oban, the university town? The concept, which is currently being devised by representatives from the area’s education and business sectors, is a tangible one when considering the array of academic pursuits available in and around Oban.

There are currently around 600 students on courses at the three main academic centres in Oban and Lorn and there are ambitions to raise this figure to more than 1,000 over the next decade.
