How did you get into cold water swimming?
I first started cold water swimming in 2015, after I came across an advert for a Chillswim event. I had hurt my back at the time and couldn’t do triathlon as I couldn’t run. It was advertised for February 2016, so myself and my friends (the Dippy Dragons) started swimming through the winter to prepare. As soon as we started, I found that I was able to tolerate the cold quite well and I became completely hooked.
I then got told about the Ice Mile, so in the January of 2016 I did my first one and became the first ever welsh woman to do an Ice Mile. Some people said that I shouldn’t have been able to do it in that amount of time and that it should have taken me two or three years. Don’t get me wrong, ice swimming is extremely difficult - I was going four or five times a week - but I just think that some people can tolerate the cold better.
