As a valuable source of protein, vitamins and minerals, we really should grow and eat more nuts! They often come from sizeable bushes or trees, meaning they are not suitable for tiny gardens. For those who do have the space however, the harvest – in terms of nutrients – compared to the space they take up is high. They are the perfect choice for a forest garden to provide the canopy and small tree layers. Many nuts are from trees that thrive only in tropical regions, but there are a number that can be grown in temperate areas, too.
