2022 PREVIEW
THE BEST OF THE REST
Gojira in arenas! Bring Me on a beach! A load more albums for our ears! Here’s everything else we’re stoked about for 2022
The floodgates are bursting: with the albums written during isolation emerging, and rescheduled tours and new dates popping up all over the shop, 2022 is set to be a banner year for metal Here’s a glimpse of what’s coming your way in the next 12 months… We thought we’d get a new record from our corpsepainted Norwegian friend Abbath last year, but it never materialised. Thankfully, brilliantly titled third album Dread Reaver is set for release in March.
Accept headline the Friday of new event ManorFest in Towcester in May, plus Overkill, Candlemass, Borknager, Rotting Christ, My Dying Bride and more will be bringing the heavy, too.
Over in Finland, Amorphis are readying Halo for February – if their single The Moon’s anything to go by, it’ll be a stunner. One-man industrial/ doom project Author & Punisher will put out Krüller the same month, featuring a guest appearance from Tool drummer Danny Carey and bassist Justin Chancellor, and after a seven-year gap we’re expecting something great from death metal stalwarts Autopsy.
