DIARY
Hey, you lot out there! The time has come, the gong has chimed, the annoying alarm clock has beeped its final snooze. Yes, 2020 is on the way out and now is the perfect time to get out your diaries and plan your run calendar for 2021. Yes, people think we’re weird for doing this before we plan next year’s holidays or take down the Christmas tree, but we don’t care, right? We’re proud to be in the obsessive runners gang. Pencils at the ready, here’s our roundup of real and virtual races for all runner abilities…
TEAM AND ALL LEVELS
WINGS FOR LIFE [VIRTUAL]
► An unusual virtual challenge for runners who fancy trying a new race format. In the Wings for Life World Run, all participants start at the same time, worldwide. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a professional athlete, a fun runner or a total beginner because there is no finish line. Instead, 30 minutes after the start a virtual Catcher Car begins pursuit. Runners are eliminated via the race app until one winner remains. Beginner runners are likely to be passed by the virtual car at around 5K whereas the pros might need to sweat it out until 60K. See how far you can get – your result is not a time but the distance you achieve. All entry fees and donations donated to spinal cord research.
