AGE OLD PROBLEM
TOKEN BLOKE
Our annoyingly cheerful ultrarunner, Damian Hall, is still trying to defy his age – with mixed results
In my last column, I mentioned how winning a short local race gave me the hopeful feeling that I wasn”t over the hill quite yet. That, however, was before I turned 42.
I was invited to do a talk at the Kendal Mountain Festival before Christmas and it just so happened there was a 10K trail race beforehand. I couldn”t resist, even if it was my birthday the day before. I rarely drink, but I also couldn”t resist a few glasses of red on the big day. The next morning, the alarm went off before 5am and I dragged my reluctant body into the car, for five hours on the motorway.
