“DIET WAS THE LAST PIECE OF THE PUZZLE THAT I NEEDED TO GET RIGHT”
Since taking up running in 2011, Jonna McFadden, 39, from Manchester, has been pretty consistent at achieving her running goals. But when she set herself the goal of a sub-23-minute 5K, it became her nemesis for years. However, after a fi ve-day trip away to health food festival Fruit Fest last month, to learn about – and experience – the health benefi ts of a low-fat raw vegan diet, a surge in Jonna’s energy levels and overall wellbeing saw her achieving that elusive sub-23 5K she’d been chasing – within days of returning home. While Jonna concedes that marginal changes to her running and training may have played a part, she is confi dent that transitioning to a highraw vegan diet has been central to her success.
