ORANGE ARROW RECORD RUN:
Iarnród Éireann repainted Class 2600 DMU No. 2601/2 into its original Arrow Commuter livery to mark the introduction of the Arrow services and the DMUs from Tokyu Car Corporation, 30 years ago in 1994. Over the weekend of May 18/19, the Irish Railway Record Society operated the ‘Times Arrow’ railtour from Cork to Dublin on May 18, where the retro livered DMU visited its former suburban haunts and the Howth line. On May 19, it ran non stop from Heuston to Cobh covering the 1763/4 miles in two hours, 55 minutes and 49 seconds, believed to be the fastest ever run by steam or diesel. It is seen arriving at Rushbrooke on the final leg back to Cork.
