Blanket measures approx 95x150cm (37½x59in)

ABBREVIATIONS

mtr (mosaic treble) Tr into skipped st 3 rows below, working in front of the ch-sps of the prev 2 rows For a full list, see page 86

NOTES

Blanket is worked in the mosaic style. Change colour every 2 rows; you can carry the yarns up the side of the Blanket as this will be worked over on the Edging.

There is a Chart on page 87, which you should refer to. Each row on the Chart should be worked twice: first from right to left as a RS row, then read left to right as a WS row. The colour of the first small square on each row shows which colour the row is worked in. Where a second colour appears on a row, skip the sts and work a ch for each skipped st plus 1; for example, if you skip 3 sts you will make a ch4. When working the next RS row in a new colour you will need to work an mtr into the skipped sts 3 rows below, working in front of the ch-sps. On the next WS row work a dc st in all mtr from the row below. The first few rows of the Chart have been written out to guide you.

BLANKET

Using Yarn A, ch96.

Row 1 (RS) Dc in bl of second ch from hook, dc in bl of each ch to end, turn. [95 sts]

Row 2 (WS) Ch1 (does not count as st throughout), dc in each st to end, turn.

Change to Yarn B.

Row 3 Ch1, 1dc, ch3, skip 2 sts, 1dc, (ch2, skip 1 st, 1dc) rep to last 3 sts, ch3, skip 2 sts, 1dc, turn.

Row 4 Ch1, 1dc, ch3, skip ch-3 sp, 1dc, (ch2, skip ch-2 sp, 1dc) rep to last 3 sts, ch3, skip ch-3 sp, 1dc, turn.

Change to Yarn A.

Row 5 Ch1, 1dc, 2mtr, (1dc, 1mtr) 4 times, ch2, skip 1 st, *1mtr, (1dc, 1mtr) 8 times, ch2, skip 1 st; rep from * to last 11 sts, 1mtr, (1dc, 1mtr) 4 times, 1mtr, 1dc, turn.

Row 6 Ch1, dc in each st to ch-2 sp, ch2, skip ch-sp; rep from * to final st, dc in final st, turn. Change to Yarn B.

Row 7 Ch1, (1dc, ch2, skip 1 st) twice, *7dc, 1mtr, 7dc, ch2, skip 1 st, 1dc, ch2, skip 1 st; rep from * to final st, 1dc, turn.

Row 8 Ch1, dc in each st to ch-2 sp, ch2, skip ch-sp; rep from * to final st, dc in final st, turn.

Rows 9-74 Cont in patt using the Chart.

Rows 75-218 Rep Rows 3-74 twice more.
