Carole Baker studied at Lichfield School of Art. She is a member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, where she regularly exhibits. Carole runs painting workshops and holidays throughout the year and demonstrates for art clubs. Carole is one of the artists giving free daily painting demonstrations for The Artist at Patchings Art, Craft and Design Festival, from July 11 to 13. See pages 66-67 for details. One of the reasons I paint is to capture the effect of light on the landscape – this, and the way I felt when I was in front of the subject, is what most of my paintings are about. Knowing my subject is, therefore, an important aspect of my work, and I have been inspired by forest and woodland from a young age.
