The big craze in makeup now is contouring – Kim Kardashian does it, Cheryl Cole does it – these women look amazing, so should you all be doing it?
Contouring is simply shading – adding shade to create the illusion of contours, then adding light to emphasise these contours.
Many Trans ladies have been told that contouring will change their faces and feminise them – I don’t totally agree. Contouring can have the adverse effect of sharpening the bone structure, making the face appear hard and bony, and more masculine.
I prefer to add soft feminising colours and light, to lift the complexion and soften the overall appearance of the face. I will shade the contour of the jaw-bone, and add a little to the cheeks, but that is about it.
So here’s my step-by-step guide to making up your face - and it shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes to do either.
When applying beard-cover and foundation, I recommend using a sponge, and dab it on. This gives the best cover and doesn’t disturb the layers underneath.
