My story starts out like a lot of others I suppose: the first tentative experiments with articles of women’s clothing; nearly scorching my scalp permanently with a hot curling iron; dressing up for Halloween; the first night out in a club - all the while being terrified of that moment when I was found out and dragged away in chains, never to be seen again.
In 2013 after giving it a lot of thought, I stepped onto a stage as Triesste for the first time, having no idea what would happen. It was part of a thennew event at a club where I usually sang and played the guitar. After five years, two independent films with a third in the works, and dozens of performances later, Tokyo Closet Ball - with myself and fellow members - is still going strong. After years of playing and singing in clubs, I have been amazed at the love and support from our audiences and friends. Our show has a lot of diversity - comedy, dance, burlesque, performance-art - sometimes all at once!
