LET’S GET EDGY
Hooker chic??!!!?? Should we even go there, girls? You know it really isn’t right, you know that prostitution is a degrading and sexist and a violent business, with deep ties to organized crime. It’s vile and exploitive and truly horrible…
And yet, and yet… What girl (what t-girl!!) hasn’t almost swooned at the thought of parading along the high-street dressed in OTK suede boots, black fishnets, a see-through blouse with a black lace bullet bra proudly on display, a boxy black leather jacket covered with buckles and zips - and a very large black leather handbag to hold the tools of her trade (condoms, sex toys, handcuffs…). The truth is; there is something very empowering about the hooker look - which is why it’s never out of fashion and why haute couture designers from Thierry Mugler to Gianni Versace to Vivienne Westwood have drawn inspiration from this style for decades. Hooker chic is edgy, and always will be. Even when it’s served up in a more refined form as cocktail-party attire for respectable married ladies.
