The People’s Postcode Lottery (UK) has donated £100,000 to African Parks’ initiative to reintroduce the black rhino to Rwanda’s Akagera National Park. The entire programme will cost more than £1 million, with the funding boost going towards the sourcing and resettlement of the species, last seen in the area in 2007 due to poaching. Meanwhile, the Dutch Postcode Lottery has donated €2.6 million to this non-profit organisation for conservation and development in Malawi, including the translocation of around 500 elephants into a sanctuary in Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve. African Parks now manages 10 national parks in seven countries. african-parks.org
