How an elephant works

Reproductive system

An elephant’s penis can be up to 100cm long, while the female clitoris is around 40cm long. The vulva is placed between the hind legs, with mammary glands located between the fore legs. After mating, the gestation period is 95 weeks (22 months). The mother’s trunk is long enough to be able to reach her calf when suckling.
