OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS, MORE
of my grayling trips have been cancelled due to flooding. However, I do have the option to fish small stillwaters.
During a recent chat with fly-tyer Andy Saunders, he shared his passion for grayling fishing in northeast England and the Scottish Borders, but agreed that small stillwaters are a reliable back-up when the rivers are ‘out’. Andy creates beautiful grayling bugs and stillwater patterns, often showcasing his work at fairs and clubs. His YouTube channel, AP Fly Tying, is entertaining and a useful library of flies along with new techniques and modern materials.
